Most of you know that Bill Sager was the bartender at Cezanne until just this past year. Bill was the backbone of the club. He had to step down because of health reasons.

On Friday July 3, we will be honoring Bill for his many years of service and dedication to Cezanne.

I would like to extend an invitation to musicians who have worked the room to come by, sit in and pay tribute to Mr. Sager.

The house band will be Joe LoCascio, Bill Miller, Rich DeRosa and me. Bill will also sit in and sing.

Please put this date on your calendar.

    Woody:
I'm playing at Perry's/Clear Lake that night; otherwise, would be there for sure.
Please give my best to Bill. If his "health reasons" are such that any fund-raising is necessary, please advise.

Bob, I don't know if fundraising is necessary. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt. I just felt that something should be done to commemorate Bill's devotion to the club through the years while he can still enjoy it.

Going back to the first time I met Bill (sometime in the 80s), I was knocked-out by the fact that he refused to bartend anyplace that did *not* have live music.
Pretty cool, huh? And unique, even then.
To me, an attitude like that more-than-offset his occasional blender solo:-).

Always with the blender jokes. It's a bar right? Now I can see not blending during a soft and tender moment, but depending on the tune that could be a long time to hold one's blender. What if he had 5 or six customers that ordered blender drinks? Should he wait? Maybe he could schedule them with the band between tunes I suppose. People can get cranky waiting too long for drinks. It looks like he put the customers first, maybe without thinking about it.

I did hear there were a few times when people complained about the blender when Ward was playing. The weird thing is, that night the blender was broken.

I know. What's worse it was a Ward Joke that used the blender joke as well. I feel so cheap. I can't defend the joke which to say the least was coarse.

I would like to offer an apology to Ken Ward and the Ward family. To Ken's daughter, whom I believe is over 18, I'm sorry. And to all the blenders we so often take for granted. Also to all the piano players that dress like slutty flight attendents....Sorry.

"blender" and "Ward" doesn't compute...unless you're going to make him a Scotch smoothie which I'm pretty sure Bill would've refused to do on principle alone.

    Sorry guys,
Ken doesn't drink 'blended' scotch. He can't even 'blend' into a crowd.

Scotch Smoothies are hard to make, because its very hard to get all the blood out of a Scotsman. They are very tight, you know. The women, less so.

Well, yes, the piano sounded like a blender at times, but there was a reason. You see, I had heard from the band that played there the previous night that the piano was in bad shape, so I asked Bob Henschen to give it a touch up...

I won't be able to make it to honor Bill. He was very dedicated to the club. Man he knew alot of tunes. I played an obscure ballad called THis IS Always and he knew the words to the tune. Man!! Impressive. We will miss him.

Bill Sager's contribution to Cezanne over these many years is immeasurable. The club isn't same without him and his presence is very much missed.

He is a true gentleman with a heart twice the size of Texas.

What a fun night. Many thanks to Kevin Patton, Warren Sneed, Art Fristoe, Dennis Dotson, Joel Fulghham and Mike Wheeler for sitting in as well as Bill's grandson who sang beautifully. A fitting tribute to a wonderful man. God bless Bill Sager.
