A year in Lubbock was good. I enjoyed it much more than I expected. Texas Tech was great and the community of Lubbock is really terrific - a bit to my surprise. But it is good to be back in Houston.

I will be taking a few private students this year. Those interested can get more details over in the Classifieds.

I probably won't be playing these days as much as writing - at least for a while, but I look forward to hearing as many of you as possible around town.

    Best to all,

    Paul

Brennen, I think I am a pretty decent teacher, but there are some teaching challenges that are beyond me...

Besides, the way you play, most of us are willing to put up with you the way you are.

    See you soon, buddy.

Paul, if you do teach him, you will have to revise your CV to say:

"...and performing with the likes of Marc Johnson, John Pattitucci, Brennan Nace and others.

I think Paul is a VERY VERY

    GOOD MUSIC TEACHER.

He`s told me a few simple things that made more sense and practical value to me
...about playing the piano than a ton of teachers told me over decades of piano lessons.

I hope he also 'goes into comedy'.

This is a 'around the back door humor' that cleans me good.

I hope Houston doesn`t put him with the

STANDARD LEVEL of music teachers thought to be around here.

Paul is an excellent teacher. Very thorough and relatable while still being patient and making sure you understand the material before moving on. In other words, he doesn't talk over your head! He has greatly influenced my own teaching style! Highly recommended!

    Paul English is simply ......

A VERY VERY POSITIVE ASSET TO THE HOUSTON JAZZ COMMUNITY.

I asked him to start up a new club/place/whatever.

He is known for creating a brand new venue for jazz musicians to express their art...make money....then some people criticize him.

He`s got a wonder sense of humor...he`s constantly finding ways to helping others...and he`s a hell of a player, composer and teacher.

Let`s be kind to Paul and keep him here.

As long as I`m on this subject let`s be kind to all the wonderful musicians that have mace this city a wonderful place to play.

Welcome back to Houston Paul. Things haven't been the same without you. When Bruce Dudley left town, the Houston music scene dropped a notch or two. Then, when you left it dropped some more. The rush to fill the vacumn just wasn't up to par. You have always had some really wonderful bands- Cody's, Blue Moon, Blue Water Grill (WOW! Blue Water Grill)- So many of your unheard of sidemen have gone on to bigger and better things but they got their initial exposure with you. I'm looking forward to your next project. Houston has always had some great musicians but not so many great bands. Make the next one your best yet. I still remember when we first met on the front porch at Carnaby's.

What the...? You gotta be kidding me... Thank you, but, wow, I feel like I just walked into my own wake. Come on, guys, lighten up. I'm not dead yet!

Thanks to all, but Monzo, I have to admit, I'm not sure I can lift my right arm past my waist any more...

    English Paul,

It IS good to have you back here. I'd have poked my head in sooner to welcome you, but I've been swept up in this flight of fancy or that... please forgive! (I can't help myself....)

I know you'll be kicking up the considerable dust that settled in your north-bound wake in due time. Even before we met, I always looked forward to hearing about your new (ad)ventures and listening to your fabulous recordings.

Wishing you the best of the best...

    Dana

    CORRECTO-TOE

    Paul played so damm well.

    Atomic !

Then I told him that I got myself married since I last saw him...and he said

    'Does she know?"

Now I know Paul is back.

He even said he might take one of the Brasil nights....but that he ??? DIDN`T HAVE A KEYBOARD???...WHAT THE HELL??

After playing that well and then to think Brennon Nace doesn`t have an upright bass????

Is this that 'END RESULT'..one reaches when one

    PERFECTS HIS INSTRUMENT?

There are alot of pro players comming by Brasil.

Enjoy the party on Sunday night 8-11
