Spent some time researching and writing this article for my blog. It tells the bizarre story of Apple Records vs. the world and why we still don't have any Beatles on iTunes...

I was oblivious to this whole "Battle of the Apples". The amount of money involved in all of this is astounding, too. Great article and research Drew!

Steve Jobs should have just come up with a different name like Mango for his company instead of Apple and could have avoided this whole mess...... Mango Computer. How different the world could have been. :)

iMango. It could work. I'm a Mango, You're a PC? Maybe not.

It's pretty bizarre how convoluted and contentious things have become in Beatles-land. EMI owns the master recordings, Sony/Michael Jackson's estate owns the songs, Apple Records owns the trademarks creating hellish litigation for Apple Computers. Then there's the surviving members and their families each with differing opinions on how to run things.

If you haven't seen that behind-the-scenes Bravo documentary on "Love", the Cirque du Soleil show, you get a real sense of how difficult it must be to deal with The Beatles Empire.

In the meantime, import your Beatles CDs into iTunes, or buy that stupid USB apple thing.
