COUNTERMEASURES
(School for Intensive Music Studies)

Founded in 2010 for the exceptional student in pursuit of a thorough understanding of music and mastery of the ancient and modern crafts of counterpoint, harmony, composition and improvisation

Saturdays 8-10 am
Optional additional sessions MWF 8-9:15 am

Pre-requisites: you should have at the minimum a college-level background in theory, the ability to improvise well on your instrument, basic keyboard skills and some ability to compose.

THE YOUNG ENGLISH SINGERS
A Jazz/Baroque Vocal Octet with Jazz Quartet

Horace Alexander Young III and Paul English, music directors

Auditions, Saturday, March 27*, 2010, 2 - 6 pm (changed from March 20)

Pre-requisites: you must be able to sing well and read music. Background/experience in jazz, baroque and various other styles helpful. SSAATTBB.



PRIVATE LESSONS:
I have a limited number of openings for private students interested in the study of any or all of the following:

• Jazz improv
• Jazz piano
• Theory (jazz, traditional)
• Counterpoint
• Composition

Update:

Countermeasures completed it's 2nd session of Introduction to Paul's System of Tonal Analysis by completing the analysis of all 371 Bach Chorales (Riemenschnieder) as well as some other music. The system looks at both tradition classical as well as jazz approaches.
