At 91 years of age, he just kept getting better. By the way, I think Andrew plays solo piano much like Hank did.

OH NO... heartbreaking!! My favorite. I never got to hear him live either. Very sad.... I'm going to play Hank albums all day today.

Yes, sad news. I have been listening to a lot of Hank lately. What a master! Oscar Peterson said every time he sat down to play he thought about Art Tatum, Nat Cole and Hank Jones.

Read this. It's tells of how he lived. Fascinating...

I never knew it was Hank Jones accompanying Marilyn Monroe singing "Happy Birthday" to JFK!

thanks for the article, Andrew. i can't imagine him needing to keep those headphones on all the time! it makes me sad that he didn't have a real piano practice all those hours on or a bigger space to live in. but it sounds that we was content!?

"Willow Weep for Me" is from the 1994 Carnegie Hall Salutes Jazz Masters Verve 50th Anniversary concert. I've listened to that solo at least 50 times and never see the video! What a concert!!

I saw Hank in AprilĀ 2010. He still had it. It was just a marvelous treat.
