    Paul Shaffer once said that if the Letterman gig ever stopped, he'd be thrilled to be able to play "Proud Mary" with a band at a Holiday Inn, as long as he gets to keep playing. Getting to do what you love to do + make a decent living + no one's stopping you = a successful career :-)

    A good friend of mine describes the concept of general entertainment gigs this way: Create a sound envelope in which people can enjoy the music and at the same time talk and visit. Concerts and shows are different.
