Background

 Margie Hobbs received her degree in classical piano from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in Brisbane, Australia and then moved to Boston to study jazz piano at Berklee College of Music immediately after that.  She worked for years as a session vocalist and pianist at some of the top hotels in Boston,  including the Park Plaza Hotel where she was the resident pianist/vocalist for 5 years.  During her time in the Northeast she also played at the Westin Copley Hotel,  Ritz Carlton and Lenox Hotel to name a few.  She and her duo partner also worked at the 5 star Balsams Grand Resort in Northern New Hamphire for several summers as well.  It was in January of 2000 that she met her husband Sam Goldenhar, a very respected upright bassist from Houston - HSPVA grad and University of North Texas Jazz Major.  They have been performing as a duo and cabaret act for Norwegian Cruiselines since then and every time they are off the ship and back in Houston they love to catch up with their fellow jazz musicians and perform whenever they can.   Check out their website for more information:   www.MargieAndSam.com
