About

Original bassist for Drop Trio. See www.droptrio.com for showdates and go out and dig on the funk/jazz grooves, with whoever is blowin' bass for them at the time. Also bassist/vocalist for MOSFET (www.ronelmm.com/mosfet) when the time presents itself. Which is seldom.
I play bass mainly, but also a little piano and even guitar. Yes, guitar. See, in my crazy arsenal of sound there lies a bad Strat copy, spray painted without care, and tuned a whole 5th lower than normal tuning with strings between .13 and .60 - My own cheap, fake Fender VI, you could say. But not quite. I also attack my real '98 Strat from time to time, but thats not usually a good thing. Normally I stick to smashing the Rickenbacker sound into prog funk jazz experimental sounds, taking the listeners into the mix kicking and screaming.
(eeesh, I like to sing too...but I wouldn't call myself an official vocalist.) I live for 60's rock, latin jazz, blues, progressive rock, funk, and Caribbean folk music.
The Beatles are the #1 rock/pop group ever.
I've been in rock bands, eclectic bands, jam bands, blues/rock bands, and funky jazzy trios. A wannabe musical chameleon is what I am. Perhaps not as good at it as my buddy Conrad Kao, but hey I do what I can.
My wife had a baby on April 30, 2004. Its a girl! Her name is Pennie Layne. No I didn't name her, even though I love Beatles. My wife named her, and she was not aware of the 1967 single! (That is my babygirl there on the left at 2 weeks old...)
I do website design and graphics work for a living, and I used to do music until the wee hours every week. But baby keeps me too busy these days. Maybe sometime in the future I shall gig again. Oh, my company is www.ronelmm.com - if you need any work done, call me.
Moving on...
