Background

Barrie got his start with none other than Duke Ellington! He has since served as the band's director (w/ Mercer Ellington) and is without question one of Texas', if not the world's, foremost authorities on Ellington's catalog. Barrie has also worked extensively with Kenny Garrett and Mulgrew Miller. In fact, you can catch him on Kenny's debut album ("Prisoner of Love", 1989) along with this other trumpet player named Miles somebody.
