Catie Hickey is in town doing graduate work at Rice University, and making a big splash on the local music scene. Her improvisation skills are formidable, with a very fresh perspective on the instrument.

A Chicago native (Cubs fan from birth), Catie is an alumni of several distinct schools & ensembles: Eastman School Of Music (where she did her undergraduate work with Mark Kellogg), Henry Mancini Institute @ UCLA, Buffalo & Rochester Philharmonics, & The Youth Orchestra Of America. Along the way, Catie has performed with such groups as Bobby McFerrin, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Chuck Mangione, John Hollenbeck, Kurt Elling, and Von Freeman.
