Background

This young musician got his start banging pots and pans, but since then he has morphed into what can be called a bonified phenom. This drummer attacks the set with reckless abandon. He comes from a musical family where everyone plays an instrument, or sings. His older brother is Montique Willis, accomplished musician and producer in his own rite.  He, like his brother Montique has a style that is unique, and a hybrid of the many parts of the country he has lived and traveled.  His reputation has earned him the names "ANIMAL," "THE MUTANT," "The Key" and "DIRTYSTICKS." He has been in and won many drum competitions and shared the stage with many prominent musicians and artists. He has been in countless jazz, hip hop, funk, rock and gospel shows that his on stage experience is astounding and his confidence is through the roof. He has played at the Temple University Jazz Festival three times and he has played at the University of the Arts Jazz Festival twice and he won an outstanding soloist award at both festivals. His style is partly from Philadelphia where his music matured under the influece of the neo-soul explosion. Taking influences from as many diverse people as Travis Barker, Buddy Rich, Akira Jimbo, Dennis Chambers, Carter Beauford, Marcus Baylor, and Gene Krupa just to name a few, he has created a style that can't be duplicated, and an onset stage presence that is captivating.

Maturing on the set in the church, while growing up is where he learned how to play in the pocket, and daily jam sessions with his brother and many older seasoned musicians taught him how to let his hands go, while letting his mind go wild. Creating different beats, and changing styles is his specialty. His playing style is warm and poppy, and has the ability to make that head bob. He is soulful and innovative. Recently he has been doing studio work as a session drummer at Magik Eye Studios in Houston. He is also the drummer for his parent's church " Christ's Church" in Houston. Music truly is his passion. He can play jazz, funk, hip-hop, reggae and many more. He doesn't just know how to play them but 17 years of playing has helped him learn how to master these genres and play them all amazingly well. He is definately someone to be noticed.

He can currently be heard playing for Network band out of Houston.
