Background

I'm mainly a wide-ranging and versatile rock drummer, but I also play well in other styles - funk, Afro-Cuban,Second Line. If this matters to anyone: Some of my drumming influences include: Jim Capaldi (Traffic, studio great), Jim Keltner (John Lennon, studio great), Philly Joe Jones (Miles, many others), Nigel Olsson (young Elton John), Ringo, Aynsley Dunbar (Bowie, The Mothers), Paul Motian (jazz great), Joey Barron (modern jazz great) and Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys). I continue to study with a great local jazz drummer, Tim Solook, who helps me to broaden and refine my skills. My musical influences are wide-ranging - for instance, I like the Stooges, 70's Bowie, Mott the Hoople, The Band, Talkng Heads, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, The Faces, Chuck Berry, Sinatra, Wilco, dead horse, Oasis, Pink Martini, Ruben Blades, Mongo Santmaria, Howlin' Wolf, Webern and Prokofiev.
At the moment, I'm playing with The Matt Mayo Band (formerly The Mullens); but I'd really like to do more than this gig and to be involved with a wider variety of styles.
