Background

Born and raised in St. Louis Missouri, learned to play at the early age of 9 by the late David Hines (Formerly "Thad Jones - Mel Louis big bands). Influenced to pursue a music career by many of the local St. Louis area musicians, Oliver Lake, Allen Merry, John Hicks, Julius Hemphill, Hammett Bluett, Fred Irby, Lester Bowie, (all members of the B.A.G. (Black Artist Group)
Talented in both Music and Sports ... Attended Vashon High School (St. Louis, Mo) ... under the careful tutelage of Waymon Mickens and O'Hara Spearman. Also lettered in football ... was Vashon's High Shcool starting quarter back receiving all city honors in football. Offered numerous scholarships in both football and music. Studied classically with Susan Slaughter and David Presgrave (St. Louis Symphony).  Hired as contract studio musician with Y.O.D.I. Enterprises at 17. A Texas Southern University Alumnus.... played Lead and Solo Trumpet with award winning TSU Jazz Ensembles and small groups. Also feature soloist in TSU's Concert Band under Benjamin Butler.  Traveled across the U.S. and abroad (Italy, Spain, France, Dubai, Frankfurt, Munich, Japan, Amsterdam etc...) with various groups as side man.  Toured,  played and recorded with various local and national acts. (Millie Jackson, Denise Lassalle, Tryone Davis, Johnny Taylor, Chilites, Freda Payne, Sharon Clark, Bobby Mcnutt, Isley Brothers, Bobby Womack, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Mahattans, Four Tops, Temptations, Chucky "C", Bo Williams, Lisa Lee, The Duke Ellington Orchestra (Sacred Music Sereis), Gary Edwards (Sounds of New Orleans).... and list goes on!   Performed numerous stage plays ... "Aint Misbehavin", "Sophisticated Ladies", "The Wiz", "Dream Girls","Chicago" ....etc .   Served as staff/contract musician with: Liberty Baptist Church,  Lakewood Church, Second  Baptisit Church, Brentwood Baptist Church, Grace Community Church, Windsor Village UMC, Grace Church Humble Currently playing Lead Trumpet for B.A.S.E. Productions (Dancin in the Streets- Motown and More and various other producions, Conrad Johnsons' "Big Blue Sound", Sam Dinkins Sextet, N.B.S. (Nuthin But Soul) Horn Section . Currently working on original music solo project.        "Have Passport" .... Will Travel!!
