Background

 

Jazz vocalist Julie Wilson has been performing for ten years and has just finished recording her first CD, Introducing JulieWilson to be released soon. Julie has fronted her own rock and blues band, sung background vocals in a hip-hop group, and, for two years, became the singer in a flamenco dance group. In 2004, Julie realized a life-long ambition when she became the jazz vocalist with the University of Houston-Downtown Civic Jazz Orchestra.  Julie has sung with the CJO ever since, most notably at the Annual UHD Women in Jazz Concert and at the Kemah Jazz Festival, where she also performs with her Latin Jazz band, Alegria. Julie, who is married to UHD Civic Jazz Program Director, Robert Wilson, has been building her jazz chops with such notable jazz musicians as Pamela York, Carol Morgan, Tony Campesi, Dennis Dotson, David Caceres, Sebastian Whittaker and Marsha Frazer. Julie has recently sung in Bordeaux, France as part of the jazz cultural exchange program between University of Houston-Downtown and Musiques de Nuit in Bordeaux, France. For booking information, please contact: 713-854-4724 or 713-859-3726.
