Background
From 2001-5, he has been the Assistant Director of Bands/Jazz Ensemble Director/Music Education Coordinator at North Carolina A. & T. State University in Greensboro, NC.
He plays at numerous churches, and is the leader of his own group, The John Henry Ensemble.
He performs and arranges for several local groups.
He is active on keyboard, piano, organ, trombone, and bass trombone. He plays with the Knights of Soul, Greensboro Big Band, Burt Massengale Big Band, and the Greensboro Concert Band. Prior to moving to North Carolina, he was an Instructor at Texas Southern University.

This native Cleveland Ohioan completed his BM & MM Degrees from The University of Akron in Akron, OH. He has completed most of a Doctoral of Musical Arts in Music Education/Theory at the University of Houston. He is currently working on his dissertation: The Band Contests of the Prairie View Interscholastic League from 1940-1970, with an emphasis on the black high school bands and band directors in Texas.
