Although best known for his work in the Latin Jazz / salsa realm, Mark Towns is fluent in all musical styles. His career has included stints in various jazz, rock, avant-garde, funk, blues, and world beat aggregations, in addition to having performed with many major league artists, including Hubert Laws, Chaka Khan, Roy Hargrove, Rickie Lee Jones,  Chucho Valdes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Stanley Clarke, Pharoah Sanders, Yomo Toro, Larry Coryell, Pete Barbuti, Arnette Cobb, and Kirk Whalum. In addition to composing music for his own projects, Towns also writes music for commercials, film, and television. His CD, "Flamenco Jazz Latino" (Salongo Records) features Hubert Laws, Kirk Whalum, and members of the Colombian salsa band Grupo Niche. Laws is featured again on his newest CD, "Passion."
