Pasheen has created a gem with "The Big Purr". It's a collection that's both witty and sultry with world-class performances by all. One could easily compare "The Big Purr" to similar outings by popular retro artists like Adele and Melody Gardot, but Pasheen gives more room for improvization digging deeper into the jazz tradition. Her backing band is made up of LA studio players including saxophonist Bob Sheppard, pianist Rich Eames, and trumpeter Carl Saunders -- Saunders elevates every track on which he appears. Being hometown-aware, she also invites talented Houston players along too. Frank Battaglia, in particular, shines on soprano. Additional production flourishes from Barry Coffing on tracks like "Vanity" ensure radio and soundtrack potential. Overall, a polished and engaging outing. Highly recommend.
